Radiologic Tech (Rad Tech) /LMR

Department: Operations

Position Title: Radiologic Technologist or LMR

Reports to: Office Manager

This position features:

Objective: Provide radiographic imaging as directed by the physician, nurse, or other clinician. Maintains radiology equipment and supplies. Maintains accurate documentation in the EMR system and assists physicians and clinical staff as needed.


Certified X-Ray Technician Duties:

  • Patient care responsibilities as assigned, which may include scheduling and organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to the exam/procedure room, assisting patients with changing to exam gowns, and transferring to the exam table as needed.

  • Maintain active EHR credentials in systems their physicians document in.

  • Provide basic patient care as ordered by the physician and assist the physician as needed.

  • Answer phone calls and provide patient education materials, communicate physician advice/instructions to patient as needed.

  • Assist in obtaining X-ray, MRI, CT scans reports as needed.

  • Prepares patients for X-rays by positioning them in such a way that causes the least discomfort and obtains optimal diagnostic imaging.

  • Clearly communicates instructions to patients such as holding their breath, positioning, etc.

  • Obtains clear images of the views requested by the physician while using appropriate safety precautions, and wearing protective equipment and radiology monitor at all times.

  • Utilize laws such as ALARA to reduce patient exposure.

  • Informs physician, nurse, or other practitioner when imaging is complete and ready for view.

  • Documents and codes in EHR in which exam/views were obtained

  • Monitors logs of imaging sent to outside radiologists, to ensure all results are reported to the physician and patient.

  • Assist physicians and medical assistants with patient care as needed.

  • Receives patient images as they are delivered to the practice and maintains an organized catalog system to maintain them.

  • Takes radiology stock inventory and communicates supply shortages to the Manager and orders as needed.

  • Ensures radiologic equipment is in good working order; arranges for repair in a timely manner and makes backup arrangements if equipment will be out of order for any period of time.

  • Performs routine maintenance and safety checks on x-ray equipment; ensures that equipment complies with regulatory requirements.

  • Creates and documents all loaning or copying images for patients and referring physicians

  • Creates and maintains written safety policies for the use of radiologic equipment and proper procedures for patient safety.

  • Maintains knowledge of the views each individual physician prefers, and updates protocols as needed.

  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

  • Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies.

  • Compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and Red Flag Rules.

  • Assist in research data collection as needed by physicians.

  • Other duties as assigned or are necessary to ensure the success of E&B.


    Requirements:

  • Licensed with the state of Kentucky

  • CPR for Healthcare Providers by the American Heart Association or equivalent

  • Maintain License through Continuing education courses

  • Limited Medical Radiography Certification or Registered Radiologic Technologist license required

  • Must work well with people

  • Effective communication skills

  • Strong ethical and moral character references

  • Willingness to support and encourage co-workers
